Add eye exams to your back-to-school checklist

As parents are making sure their students are ready to begin school in August, they should remember to get them in for a comprehensive eye exam with an optometrist. According to the Oklahoma Association of Optometry, 80% of all learning is visual, and simple vision screenings (like the kind schools provide) may not detect some vision problems that can impact health and learning.

Governor Stitt appoints new district judge

Governor Kevin Stitt appointed Rafe Hall to serve as the District Judge for the Third Judicial District which includes Greer, Harmon, Jackson, Kiowa, and Tillman Counties. Judge Hall graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1990 with a degree in Organizational Administration and a minor in Marketing before earning his juris doctorate from Oklahoma City University School of Law in 1994.

With recent temperatures well over a hundred degrees, authorities are searching for Heat Miser for questioning.

Heart attacks occur after treatmet of infections

DEAR DR. ROACH: My mom had a throat and palate infection that was treated in 2017, and about two weeks later, she had a heart attack. In 2023, she had pneumonia, and was briefly hospitalized and treated, but again about two weeks later, she had another heart attack. We asked her cardiologist if there is a relationship between either the infections themselves or the treatment of infections and heart attacks, but he was not aware of any.
