Cameron University’s Justice for All series to examine organized crime and the marijuana industry

The Cameron University Department of Social Sciences will present “Justice for All: Examining the Nexus of Organized Crime and the Marijuana Industry in Oklahoma,” a presentation by Mark Woodward, Public Information/ Education Office and Legislative Liaison for the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics (OBN). The presentation, set for Tuesday, October 10, at 2:30 p.m. in McCasland Ballroom of the McMahon Centennial Complex, is open to the public.

Museum of the Western Prairie to host book review on “Path Lit by Lightning: The Life of Jim Thorpe”

On Tuesday, October 3, at 7 p.m., Justin Lenhart, curator at the Jim Thorpe Museum and Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City, will review “Path Lit by Lightning: The Life of Jim Thorpe.” The biography, released in 2022 and written by author David Maraniss, explores the colossal athletic skills of Oklahoma’s Jim Thorpe (Sac and Fox), who won gold medals in the decathlon and the pentathlon at the 1912 Stockholm Olympics. In this biography, the narrative of Thorpe’s successes follows the personal struggles he faced in his life.
