Oklahoma Human Services announces partnership with Department of Defense to expand childcare assistance to military families

Oklahoma Human Services is proud to partner with the Department of Defense (DOD) to expand the Military Child Care in Your Neighborhood- PLUS (MCCYN-PLUS) program into Oklahoma. MCCYN-PLUS provides fee assistance to eligible military families, including National Guard and reserve, to increase their access to quality civilian child care providers when onbase child care is unavailable.

Trombone recital to feature guest performer Philip Martinson

The Cameron University Department of Art, Music and Theatre Arts will present guest artist Philip Martinson on trombone on Thursday, October 26. The recital will take place at 7:30 p.m. in Mc-Cutcheon Recital Hall. The recital will feature the works of composer Brian Sadler, a Musician First Class and trombonist/ arranger in the U.S. Navy Fleet Bands. Dr. Lucas Kaspar, an assistant professor of music at CU, will join Martinson for two selections. All works on the recitals will use pre-recorded accompaniment, including natural and synthetic sounds.

This day in history: White House cornerstone laid

On Oct. 13, 1792, the cornerstone was laid for the presidential residence that would later be dubbed the “White House” in the newly designed capital, Washington D.C. President John Adams was the first president to reside in the mansion at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. The White House, reportedly so dubbed because its white-gray Virginia freestone contrasted strikingly with the red brick of nearby buildings.

Cameron University joins Workforce Recruitment Program, aimed at students and alumni with disabilities

Cameron University has joined the Workforce Recruitment Program (WRP), a recruitment and referral program managed by the U.S. Department of Labor and the U.S. Department of Defense. The program connects federal and private-sector employers nationwide with highly motivated college students and recent graduates with disabilities who are eager to demonstrate their abilities in the workplace through summer or permanent jobs.
