84th annual Tillman County Jr. Livestock Show scheduled this weekend

Posted

The 84th Tillman County Junior Livestock Show is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 25 and Saturday, Feb. 26, 2022.

4-H and FFA youth from across Tillman County will be in Frederick to exhibit their animals and to hopefully take home top honors for their hard work and a job well done.

Show officials have been raising money for the show and will still take donations. The annual Trophy auction was not held due to COVID concerns. Any donation will be used to reward and support all of our exhibitors.

Most county livestock shows only award the top few exhibitors - but not Tillman County. All of our youth exhibitors will receive a cash award plus top winners receive belt buckles and other prizes.  This is made possible by your donations. No donation is too small and if you would still like to donate please call John Worthington, committee chair, 580-335-1737, local FFA instructors, or Aaron Henson, Extension Educator, 580-305-0794.

The general schedule for the show is:

Friday, Feb. 25, 2022: Weigh sheep, goats, and broilers at noon. The broiler show is scheduled for 5 p.m., followed by sheep, and then goats. Swine weigh in begins at 8 p.m. that evening. Senior Scholarship applications are due to Micah Treadwell by 5 p.m. Friday as well.

Saturday morning. Feb. 26, 2022: The swine show begins at 9 a.m. Weigh in all cattle begins at 10 a.m. The Beef show will begin at 3 p.m. and the dairy will follow beef. Moving to a two day show is a bit different, but show organizers feel that it might help the families involved. Also, they hope for a better crowd having most events Friday after work and then Saturday.

We will not have the Awards program this year but will pass out the awards at the show and the prize money will be delivered to the youth at their school a few days after the show.
