Anna Wofford’s fifth-graders learned about the different ways to grow fruits and vegetables and recently finished up their AG in the Classroom projects.
The three ways these students grew their plants included a bucket tower garden, or hydroponics, aquaponics, and container gardening.

What a way to close out the 21-22 Rotary Student of the Month program! We were thrilled to have our Rotary Student of the Year, Lily-Marie Fraley present her winning essay. She plans to attend UCO to pursue a degree in nursing. Fraley is pictured with her grandfather and Rotarian Glenn Redeker and FHS principal Randy Biggs. Lily-Marie is the daughter of Scott and Kim Fraley.

The Frederick High School choir banquet honoring the 2022 seniors was held May 9, 2022, at the First Methodist Church. State superior soloists and ensembles performed at the event.

The Frederick Public Schools choir department, led by Carisa Schreiner and Heather Schneider, put on a fantastic production of “Frozen Jr.” April 28 and April 29. The show was nearly sold out both nights. Originally scheduled for 2019, the show was put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic – when students left for spring break and never returned.

As the school year rapidly concludes, spring sports are coming to a close as well. Frederick High School baseball 2022 is in the books. While the season no doubt came-short of pre-season aspirations, the prospective hope for the future still overlies Bomber baseball.

The Frederick Middle School Choir is scheduled to present Disney’s Frozen Thursday April 28 and Friday April 29, 2022, at 7 p.m. in the Fine Arts Building. Tickets are $10. Pictured is Camryn Fatjo as Elsa.

Loyd and Judy Benson generously donated new shelves to the Frederick High School band room. Band students helped clean out the room and tear down the old shelves and Randy Loveday put the new shelves together.

The Frederick Bombers baseball season finally got underway after numerous games cancelled due to basketball and Mother Nature’s unaccommodating early spring ways; but finally, “Let the games begin.”

OKLAHOMA CITY—Senate Bill 1647—known as the Oklahoma Empowerment Act—is drawing increasing concern from rural lawmakers who worry the legislation could reduce state funding dollars for rural public schools. The proposed legislation is a “school choice” bill that would allow any student to use state funds to cover costs associated with private school or homeschool attendance through the use of “school vouchers.”

The Frederick Rotary Club had the honor of welcoming foreign exchange student Laura Carnevali as their program. Laura is attending Frederick High School as a foreign exchange student from Italy.

Frederick High School is among seven Oklahoma high schools that have been named “Oklahoma’s Promise 2021 State Champions,” leading the state in the number of graduates who met the requirements to receive an Oklahoma’s Promise scholarship. Oklahoma’s Promise is a state program that provides an opportunity for students from families whose annual income is $60,000 or less to earn a tuition scholarship for college or certain programs at public career technology centers.

OKLAHOMA CITY— Prather Brown students Leo Lopez and Kinsely Bagwell were named overall finalists and Kent Oxford placed fourth in Division I in the 2022 American Farmers & Ranchers (AFR) Cooperative Poster Contest. More than 2,000 students competed in the annual statewide contest.

The 2021-22 Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association (OSSAA) basketball play-offs are coming up. Frederick is in Class 3-A, District 4, and Area IV. Lady Bombers and Bombers basketball teams have their first face-off with the Lady Indians and Indians of Marietta. The games are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m., Feb. 18, 2022, at the Bomber Hangar.
