Max Lloyd Brown passed away at his home in Elgin on April 5, 2024, surrounded by family after a long battle with dementia.

Max was born December 23, 1944, in Frederick, Oklahoma to Lloyd and Vera Brown. He graduated from Frederick High School in 1963 and went on to attend college before returning home to work with his father as a mechanic in the family business.

Max married his high school sweetheart, Elva Lynn Howell, on June 24, 1967. He served for 10 years in the National Guard and eventually took over his father’s business, running Brown’s Motor Service for many years. Max joined the Tillman County Ambulance Service in 1982 where he worked his way from first responder to EMT to paramedic, and then finally serving as director. After closing his shop and retiring from the ambulance service, Max and Elva Lynn moved to Elgin, Oklahoma in 2018 to join their daughter Lori and her family.

Max enjoyed refurbishing classic cars, shooting pool, and fishing with his uncle Billy. He loved spending time with his brother Anson which always resulted in lots of good laughs. Max’s greatest joy in life, though, was being Lori’s dad and Cade and Logan’s PaPa.

Max is survived by his wife, Elva Lynn, his daughter Lori and son-in-law Clint, his grandsons, Cade and Logan, and his brother Anson.

Graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 8, 2024, at Elgin Memorial Cemetery with Pastor Les Banks officiating. Service will be under the direction of Elgin Funeral Home.
