She graduated from Winnsboro High School in Winnsboro, Louisiana, with the Class of 1955. She was united in marriage to Charles Lamont Guimbellot on December 13, 1956. Later, Sue married Donald Glen Kinder on December 13, 1972, in Jackson, Mississippi.

They made their home in Frederick where Sue enjoyed farming and ranching with Don’s parents, Chester and Gracelee Kinder from 1972 until she decided to go to nursing school.
