Remembering J.M. Cope

J.M. Cope, also known as Santa, was a well-known and beloved resident of Frederick. He portrayed Santa in Frederick and the surrounding communities for over 30 years. Cope passed away just days after his 98th birthday. He will always be fondly remembered as Santa to the residents of Frederick and beyond.

Representative Annie Menz files HB2968 regarding unpaid tolls

Under current law, if a person owes toll money, they are prohibited from renewing their vehicle registration until they pay their toll. Representative Annie Menz, D-Norman, filed HB2968, which would remove the ability of Service Oklahoma to deny renewal vehicle registration for unpaid tolls. Menz says her office has received feedback from constituents about this issue, and while she appreciates Service Oklahoma, it is time to make this adjustment.

Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics accepting applications for Academic Year 2024-25

The Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics (OSSM) announced it is now accepting applications for the 2024-25 academic year. Traditionally, students apply as a high school sophomore to attend OSSM for their junior and senior years. Occasionally, students also apply in their freshman and junior years of high school. SWOSU hosts Oklahoma Humanities “Let’s Talk About It” series

The Al Harris Library and the Department of Language and Literature at Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) announced today that it will host a series of discussions of science fiction books written by women: “Speculative Women, Future Bodies.” The first of these events will be held on January 25 at 7 p.m. in Al Harris Library’s 2nd-floor instructional room.
