51st annual Arts ‘N Action Festival two weeks away

The 51st annual Arts ‘N Action festival is scheduled for the third Saturday in September. Head out to the Tillman County Courthouse lawn, 201 N. Main St. in Frederick Sept. 16, 2023, to visit the art vendors, food vendors, and watch the wonderful talent that Frederick has to offer. This event is sponsored by the Frederick Arts and Humanities Council.
Pioneer Townsite to host Movie Night

The Tillman County Historical Society, which operates the Pioneer Townsite Museum, will host a screening of Night at the Museum in front of the Red Barn on Saturday, Sept. 23 at 7 p.m. People of all ages are encouraged to bring a chair or blanket and enjoy the 2006 adventure comedy.

Annette Rowe and Jeanie Scott started a business called Heritage Barn Quilts in 2018. They sell them and take custom orders at various arts shows or by phone. They have also donated them to places like the Tillman County Historical Society.

O ut here on the farm we often look for ways to make life easier or simpler. One of those things is to find a good herd leader for a bunch of wheat pasture calves. I once had a Holstein cross steer that would lead a bunch of crazy wheat pasture calves anywhere you wanted them to go. What made him a good leader? Well, he understood where to go and they followed him. I never said I was an expert, but I’d say they just naturally looked up to him. Maybe it was because he weighed about 1,800 lbs.
Cameron announces Summer 2023 honor rolls

Cameron University has announced the President’s and Dean’s honor rolls for the Summer 2023 semester. To make the President’s Honor Roll, undergraduate students must be enrolled full-time (carrying at least six hours of classes for the summer semester) and maintain a straight-A (4.0) average. The Dean’s Honor Roll requires a B (3.00-3.99) average.
