Tickets now available as Cameron University kicks o_ Academic Festival XII with educator/author Michele Borba

Cameron University will kick off its 12th Academic Festival, “Care and Health: A Generational Approach,” with a presentation by parenting expert Dr. Michele Borba. The event, which is free and open to the public, takes place on Thursday, September 14, at 7:30 p.m. in the University Theatre. Tickets are required for admission and can be reserved online at https://www. cameron.edu/festival.

Applications now open for the $6,000 Oklahoma Hall of Fame Scholarship

For the 13th year, the Oklahoma Hall of Fame will be awarding the Oklahoma Hall of Fame Scholarship to one Oklahoma high school senior. The $6,000 scholarship, which is given to the winning student over a fouryear period, is based on the student’s leadership roles, civic/community involvement, academic achievement, and knowledge and pride of our great state.

Old Charlie (a favorite)

Awhile back, Old Charlie rode up to his mailbox and found a letter there. There was no stamp and no return address! He had to go up to the ranch house, which was more like a shack, and get his reading spectacles so he would know what the letter even said! And with his glasses: Dear Charlie, I will be out by the ranch Saturday afternoon, and I’d really like to stop in and visit with you.

Oklahoma Human Services announces Food Insecurity Grants

Oklahoma Human Services is proud to announce Food Insecurity Grants to support the availability of and access to affordable and nutritious foods across Oklahoma in areas that have been negatively and/or disproportionately impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Funded through the Legislature’s allocation of $12.5M of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds (SLFRF), these one-time grants are designed to help food programs expand their capacity to reach more Oklahomans. Prospective applicants must complete a grant interest form by Oct. 6, 2023.
