J.A. Eskew, the lead singer for the band and rhythm guitarist has been a part of the fire department for just over 2 years. Lance Whitson, who plays lead guitar, has been with the department for 7 years. Jerry Abbott, drummer, is a senior member of the fire department fighting fires for 20 years. The members of 5-Alarm have been playing together for about 2 years, and have performed in many towns such as Yukon, Headrick, El Reno, Faxon, Vernon, and locally here in Frederick.
They made their local debut in Frederick during the 2008 Rocktoberfest, and also played for ‘Concerts in the Park’ last year, drawing in a very large crowd.
The band started recording a CD late last year, but says they still have a few songs to add to it before it will be available for sale. They now have approximately 9 band originals, with a band favorite of ‘Thursday Afternoon’.
Labeling themselves as the “Rock and Roll side of Red Dirt”, 5-Alarm has a wide array of songs, from country to rock to red dirt, so there will something for everyone. The band promises you won’t be disappointed, so mark your calendar and make sure you come out to support our local musicians. The show is expected to last for 2-2 ? hours, so bring your lawn chair, and be prepared for a good time, and an exciting show. Concerts in the park are sponsored by the Frederick Arts & Humanities Council each June in Pioneer Park, here in Frederick.
