Saturday night, June 5th the Frederick Arts and Humanities Concert in the Park will be provided by the Connexion Worship Band. The band has been playing together for about a year now as a part of the Connexion ministry of First United Methodist Church in Frederick. In the Fall of last year the congregation began its Connexion ministry which is a mid-week program for children, youth and adults. The program has throughout the year special contemporary mid-week worship services that are led by the Connexion Worship Band. The band is led by James Due who plays guitar and sings. Ann Clayton plays saxophone and hammer dulcimer, she also provides vocals. Deedra Martell and Lyle Clayton provide vocals, Justin Due plays the bass guitar, and at the June 5th concert Adam Ramariz will be the guest drummer. The band's style is classic and modern contemporary Christian music. Due states concerning the band its music, "The music is not as important as the message. We all connect to Christ in many different ways each and every day. One of the most common is through music. Sometimes the Holy Spirit will use the words of a song, even one we've heard many times before, to touch us unexpectantly: to make a connection. That is why I feel that Christian music is so important. You can use the music to worship and commune with God privately, even when surrounded by people, or in the midst of a hectic day. The connection happens, and it's real, and we are better for it. So don't come to listen to us sing. Come to make a connection."

The Concert begins at 7pm at the Pioneer Townsite Museum, and is free, just be sure to bring your lawn chair.
