District Attorney John Wampler announced today that the suspect in the recent armed robberies of pharmacies in Frederick and Granite has been taken into custody without incident. Andrew Michael Burc, age 36, was arrested late Tuesday morning south of Altus in Jackson County by agents of the District Three DA Drug Task Force, Jackson County Sheriff's deputies, Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Altus Police Department and Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics.

Wampler said that his office filed felony charges of Robbery with a Weapon late last week against Burc in both Greer and Tillman Counties. Bond was set in Tillman County at one million dollars and $500,000.00 in Greer County, and authorities have been searching for the defendant since that time.

It is believed that Burc was coming to Altus to turn himself in, but Wampler said a decision was made to interdict him in a rural setting without giving him a chance to drive into a more populated area. Wampler stated that Burc was interviewed by law enforcement and authorities have recovered the gun believed used in the robberies.

Burc is in custody at the Greer County jail and will likely appear on Thursday in District Court in Mangum for an initial appearance and at a later date in Tillman County.
