Great Plains Technology Center recently held its 4th annual Student Auction on Thursday, May 6.  The event began at 11:00 a.m. with grilled burgers, hot dogs, chips & homemade cookies.  All year students have been earning “auction bucks” in the form of points for attendance, grades, leadership, community service, teacher recommendations, student organization membership, offices held, contest participation, etc.  Students were then able to redeem these “auction bucks” at the auction for prizes such as cash, gas cards, digital cameras, a Wii, IPODS, flat screen television and many more.

Joe Don Dickey served as this year’s auctioneer.  Prizes were donated by the following:  3-H Electric/Ronnie Hickerson, Andrea Smith, Billingsley Ford, Chili’s, Don Dunham, Ethan & Lindsey Treadwell, Gary Tyler, Great Plains Technology Center, GPTC  Foundation, Home Health Products, KC’s, Newman’s Extinguishers, Splint Ends, Subway, Sutherlands, Terry & Lisa Sherrill, Tillco Supply, Tillman Producers Coop, United.  Organizations and Classes at Great Plains, including BPA which consists of the Business and Multi-Media classes and the Health Careers Class donated items for the auction as well. Ninety students were eligible to participate in the auction and 58 of them left with prizes.

Thank you to all the people who helped support us and donated items for the auction.  This is always the highlight of the year for our students and you have helped make it a truly special one.
