He was born September 4th 1962 to David Phillip BigBear Johnson and Joan Ileana Barbour Johnson and big sister Michelle Johnson Newey, in Dallas, Texas but was raised and educated in Frederick, Oklahoma. He was an outstanding athlete in high school and college, which he accredited to “good genetics” due to his Native American heritage and “ancestors,” including one of his favorite athlete cousins Jim Thorpe. Paul was an avid poet, writer and dreamer. He was a warrior, having in his early years served in the Army to perform his duty to the coutry that he loved, and a protector of those in distress up to his untimely death.
Paul is survived by his wife Diane Rechucher Johnson whom he married in November 12, 1995 in Kingman, Arizona. He is survived by three sons and a daughter; Peter and a granddaughter Autumn Johnson of Phoenix City, Alabama, Curtis and a graddaughter Trinity Johnson of Las Vegas, Nevada, Brandon Johnson of California, and Briana of California. He also leaves behind three sisters and one brother and numerous nieces and nephews: Michelle Johnson Newey with husband Dr. Mark Newey of Healdton, Oklahoma and children Dallis Covey of Greenville, North Carolina, Miriah Covey-Mosley with children Zavion and Memory of Fort Smith, Arkansas, and Autumn and Tara of the home; Kare Johnson Myers with husband Barry and children Cristen, Courtney and Daulton; Bobbie Johnson Miller of Healdton, Oklahoma and son Gregory; Eddie Johnson Jr. of Frederick, Oklahoma and children Cody, Ashley, and Brooklyn. He is also survived by sister Tina Johnson and father David BigBear Johnson of Auberry, California. He was preceded in death by mother Joan Ileana Barbour Johnson in 1999, stepfather Eddie Joe Johnson in 1997 and baby sister Karyn Lynn Johnson in 1965.
