The 6th grade basketball teams opened their season at home as they took on the Tipton Tigers. The teams were more than ready to play and both won easy victories Tuesday evening at the high school gym. The young Lady Bombers cruised to a 32-14 win before the boys took the court and convincingly beat the Tigers 21-2.
The Lady Bomber team is coached by Classie Nolan and the roster include Deighton Howell, Ashlyn Brite, Taryn Stacey, Vanessa Skinner, Terra Morrison, Ciara Cardona, Shirley Cathey, Justice Neals, Brooklyn Johnson, Asia Stewart, Bailey Sebree, and Erika Espinosa. The Frederick team never trailed and scored points on solid plays both inside and out. The defense played well to keep Tipton away from their basket. The final was a Frederick win at 32-14. Leading the Lady Bomber scoring attack were Deighton Howell, Ashlyn Brite, Vanessa Skinner, Terra Morrison, and Asia Stewart.
The Bomber team is coached by Lyle Clayton and also never trailed in the ball game. The Bombers used excellent defense to keep Tipton off balance and set up the ball well on their end of the court. Leading the Bomber offense were Maguire Perrett, Brayden Kinder, Drew Biggs, Faith Cardoso and Juan Cervantes.
Get out and watch the 6th grade games when you have a chance. They are the future of the Bomber program and are fun to watch. All of their games are in our immediate area. Be there.
