Funeral service for Cody Allen Edwards, age 19, of Frederick, Oklahoma, will be held 3:00 p.m. Thursday, March 26, 2009, at the Lighthouse Chapel Assembly of God, Frederick, Oklahoma, with Rev. Johnny Flores, youth minister, officiating.

Cody died Saturday, March 21, 2009, in Frederick, Oklahoma. Burial will be in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery, Frederick, Oklahoma, under the direction of Gray Gish Funeral Home.

He was born September 2, 1989, in Lawton, Oklahoma, to Jerry and Angie (Flores) Edwards. He grew up and attended Frederick schools and graduated from Frederick High School in 2008. He attended Western Oklahoma State College, in Altus, Oklahoma. He loved and excelled in all sports, but he especially loved baseball. Cody played pitcher, first baseman and outfield. He was an instrumental part of the Frederick Greyhounds winning the 2002 Little League NABC World Series in Greenfield, Indiana, posting a 62-11 record for the season.

He was preceded in death by his father: Jerry Edwards, on February 14, 2003; his grandmother who raised him: Carolyn K. Edwards, on November 27, 2006; a paternal uncle who had been his coach and an influence for many years: Carroll Edwards, on July 29, 2007; a paternal great grandparents: Lorena Edwards, on March 27, 2007, and Virgil Ray Edwards, on October 25, 1989; a maternal grandmother: Antonia Flores, on January 4, 1997; maternal great grandparents: Frank Flores, Sr., on June 10, 2000; maternal great grandparents: Frank & Mary Gonzales and a maternal uncle: Larry Flores, on March 3, 1995.

He is survived by his paternal grandfather, who nurtured, cared and loved him as his own: Gayle Edwards and special friend, Shirlene Cargile, of Frederick, Oklahoma; mother: Angie Flores Edwards, of Frederick, Oklahoma; two brothers: Blake Cotton, Frederick, Oklahoma, and Austin Edwards, of Wellington, Texas; three sisters: Paisley Haston, Savannah Chavez and Desirae Edwards, all of Frederick, Oklahoma; a maternal grandfather: Frank Flores, Jr. and wife Glenda, of Frederick, Oklahoma; maternal great grandmother: Josephine Flores, of Frederick, Oklahoma; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Greyhound Baseball Facility, 518 N. 11th, Frederick, OK 73542, or to the Lighthouse Chapel, Box 578, Frederick, OK 73542, in loving memory of Cody Allen Edwards.
