Frederick grade school students swept the poster contest competition at the 104th American Farmers & Ranchers state convention in Oklahoma City Feb. 13-14. The annual poster contest, “What American Farmers & Ranchers means to Me,” is a statewide competition for first through fourth graders, with over 3,000 posters judged this year. Altogether, Frederick students won 20 percent of the Division I competition, more than any other school, and ten percent of the Division II category.

The top five winners of each division were awarded trophies and savings bonds during a ceremony at the convention. Jason Tittle, son of Jason and Nellie Tittle, Frederick, placed third in Division I (grades 1-2); and in Division II (Grades 3-4) Ludwika Luna, daughter of Francisco and Veronica Luna, Frederick, placed third and Jonathan Barrera, son of Alejandro and Felipa Barrera, Frederick, placed fifth.

Other Frederick winners were: Division I Top 50: Angelica Arreguin, Katherine Cervantes, Jacob Flores, Jonathan Higuera, Corlissa Jones, Emma Schmidt, Regantis Simmons, Taylor Stacey, Cianna Thompson and Robert Vasquez; Division II Top 50: Molly Biggs, Kaydence Diaz, Chloe Fraley, Laney Kinder and Garrison Perrett.

The American Farmers & Ranchers Poster Contest is sponsored by American Farmers & Ranchers Mutual Insurance. The local agent sponsor is McManus Whitworth Insurance Agency and AFR member Pris Murr is the local coordinator. “I just appreciate the interest taken by the students and the parents. I’m always amazed at kids’ creativity and talent,” Murr said.
