Tillman County Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) acres are available for emergency haying and grazing. Both Emergency Haying and Grazing requests may be accepted at this time. Producers must visit the FSA and receive prior approval before beginning any haying or grazing of CRP acres. The FSA County Office will assist producers on identifying CRP acres on their individual contract(s) that may be hayed or grazed.
Tillman County is authorized haying and grazing beginning July 12, 2012. A minimum residual height of the grass must remain on the acreage according to specified grass species, which may shorten the allowed grazing period.
The hay and graze provisions will benefit producers by providing needed forage and benefit the CRP acreage by maintaining the grass and enhancing plant diversity for wildlife.
Producers will be assessed a 10 percent reduction of their annual CRP rental payment for each acre hayed or grazed.
Complete details concerning any FSA programs can be obtained by contacting the Tillman County FSA Office at (580) 335-2817 ext. 2. The Tillman County office is located at 1120 S. Main Street in Frederick, OK and is open from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday – Friday.
