Over 53 firefighters from 9 rural fire departments battled a large grass fire in 110+degree temperatures and gusty winds southwest of Frederick on Thursday.
The fire burned between 500 and 600 acres.
Lt. Justin Green of the Frederick Fire Department said no structures were burned and there were no injuries.
He said two crop dusters helped extinguished the blaze by dropping water on the fire.
Fire Departments involved were Frederick, Davidson, Tipton, Grandfield, Hollister, Altus, Elmer, Friendship and Harrold, Texas. Tillman County provided road graders to cut firebreaks and the Tillman County Ambulance Service was on the scene in the event of any injuries.
The Tillman County Sheriff Department had deputies at the scene to keep onlookers from getting too close to the blaze.
