Frederick Public Schools Superintendent Shannon Vanderburg and Community Action Development Corporation Executive Director Brent Morey announced today that a tentative collaboration agreement has been reached whereby both entities will combine their resources to serve all four-year-olds in Head Start/Pre-K classes. Classroom curriculums and educational objectives will be coordinated to be identical regardless of which facility children are enrolled.

“Superintendent Vandenburg and I are both very pleased to reach this agreement. Both Frederick Public Schools and Head Start have services to provide to all the children enrolled in the four-year-old program that benefits the children and families served. By entering into this collaboration, both entities increase their enrollment and bring additional resources to Frederick Public Schools and Head Start. We are asking all families to work with us as we make this transition. Though there may be a little inconvenience in the beginning, this decision is in the best interest of everyone.

The ultimate goal is to provide maximum services to every child and family in our community,” Morey stated.

Every family enrolling at the Pre-K Prather Brown classroom will need to bring proof of income, number in household along with social security numbers for each member, immunization records, and birth certificate to enrollment 9:00am to 1:00pm Thursday.

Those children already pre-enrolled at the Head Start Center should follow the enrollment schedule previously sent out by letter to each family.

All children enrolled at either site will be provided free transportation to and from classrooms. Those families needing transportation should call Red River Transportation Service at 335-2691 for a reservation. The agreement will be on the agenda for consideration for both the CADC Board of Directors and Frederick Public Schools Board Meeting Monday evening, August 6th.
