Funeral Service for former Frederick resident Willie Ray "Unc" Johnson age 55 of Amarillo, Texas will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 7, 2009, at the First Baptist Missionary Church with Rev. Lloyd Logan officiating. Burial will follow in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home. Mr. Johnson passed away Monday, February 2, 2009, in Amarillo, Texas.
Willie Ray Johnson was born February 27, 1953, at Frederick, Oklahoma to Ray and Juanita (Giddens) Johnson. He went to live with his grandparents, Charlie and Arie Horton at Harris, Oklahoma where he attended Hawthorne Elementary School. He returned to Frederick to live with his parents, Ray and LeLear Johnson and completed his education at Frederick High School. Willie Ray worked beside his father and Nathan Burns for several years hauling hay. He later worked in the heating and air-conditioning business.
He is survived by his parents: Ray and LeLear Johnson of Frederick; a brother and sister-in-law: Raymond and Brenda Johnson of Fayetteville, Georgia; two sisters and a brother-in-law: Patsy Martin of Wichita, Kansas and Zelda and Ellis Knight, Sr. of Ardmore, Oklahoma; three uncles: Rev. Lennie Baker, Jr. and his wife Mabel of Lawton, Oklahoma, Charles Horton, Jr. and his wife Lillian and Steve Horton and his wife JoAnn all of Tulsa, Oklahoma; five aunts: Diane Fox and her husband Daryl of Wichita, Kansas, Shirley Thompson of Compton, California, Delilah Dalton of San Bernardino,
California, Dorothy Jones of Enid, Oklahoma and Thelma Dotsey of Lubbock, Texas; eight nephews, five nieces, other family members and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother: Juanita Giddens Johnson; his grandparents: Lucious Johnson, Linney and Bertha Baker, Sr., Charles and Arie Horton and Jimmye D. Green; great-grandmother: Dellia Cummings; two brothers: Monnie Ray Johnson Sr. and Raymond Andrew Johnson; four sisters: Jeraldine Johnson, Wilma Ann Johnson, Cynthia Johnson and Margaret Finney.
