June was busy, and now we have a pause in the action, but be getting ready for the WWII Airborne Demonstration Team’s Summer Jump School and Open Hangar Day. Jump School get underway on July 21st, and runs until Open Hangar Day, which will be on Saturday, July 28th.
This event has become an important one for Frederick, as it attracts many team members, jump school students, WWII Veterans, friends and family to Frederick, as well as many folks from all over the region. Each year the attendance from the general public has grown.
This year we are again inviting many other groups to set up displays, including: US Army Recruiting, US Air Force Recruiting: Oklahoma Highway Patrol; Sheppard and Altus Air Force Bases and the Army Air Corps Living History Group. In addition we are inviting pilots to “Fly-In” to Frederick to attend the events. The Local Chapters of the Civil Air Patrol will volunteer to help marshal the planes and Frederick Boy Scout Troop 220 will help park cars.
All of the volunteers are coming at no charge, and will need to be supplied with bottled water and a meal. The Airborne Demonstration Team Chamber Committee is seeking sponsorships from the community. Sponsorships are available at the following levels:$50, Basic Parachutist; $100, Senior Parachutist; $250, Master Parachutist.
All sponsors will be recognized during the day, as well as with special signage at the event. Of course, sponsors will also be recognized with the follow-up newspaper articles and radio shows.
This event is being co-sponsored by the WWII Airborne Demonstration Team, the Frederick Chamber WWII Airborne Demonstration Team Committee, and the Frederick Airport. In addition, we are looking for vendors to sell non-food items at this event. Booth space is only $25, please contact the Chamber office for information.
Our neighbors in Tipton have invited us to their 4th of July activities; they will be celebrating at the Tipton Little League Ballpark, from 11am until 5pm. They will have food, games, and entertainment. They also will crown a new Little Mr. and Mrs. Tipton. Weather permitting, fireworks will begin at dark!
