Frederick Schools Superintendent Tony O’Brien has been offered the job of Superintendent of Schools in Newcastle, Oklahoma.

“I will very likely be headed there,” O’Brien said, “but we still have a few things to work out.”

He said he visited with the Frederick School Board during the Executive Session portion of Monday night’s meeting, quickly pointing out that “No action was taken.”

He has been offered two contracts, one to serve as Superintendent effective July 1, 2012 and the other to act as a consultant until that time. The consultant position will not take away from his duties here, but will be “whenever I can get there.”

“I will not leave Frederick in a bind,” he said.  “Whoever they hire will have a good footing to come in on.”

He said he has not yet signed either contract.

When the contracts are received O’Brien said the board will call a Special Meeting at which time he will resign.
