Mark Glenn, Altus Times sports journalist, received a special commendation from Dr. Phil Birdine, Western Oklahoma State College president, for his exceptional coverage of Western’s sports teams.  Glenn has covered sporting events for the college’s Pioneer Baseball team, basketball, softball and rodeo and golf teams. Birdine along with coaches from the individual sports teams and other college leadership convened in the President’s Conference Room October 6 to honor Mr. Glenn with a certificate of appreciation praising him for his “fair and honest reporting” of the Western’s athletic teams’ achievements particularly the baseball team accomplishments during the 2010-11 NJCAA World Series Championship year.   “Mark has done a lot for our sports program.  He reports accurately and puts his heart in it and we need to show him a token of our appreciation. You are an inspiration to the team,” said Birdine.

Mr. Glenn commented, “I was just doing my job. It’s fun to do the job especially after the national championship. My job is so much easier because of all the cooperation of all your coaches.  I appreciate that so much.  I’m already looking forward to the spring. Don’t be surprised if you pick up the paper and see the word “repeat”.  I do appreciate this more than you will ever know.  Thanks a lot.”
