Daniel “Dan” Fischer, Jr.


Funeral services for Dan Fischer, Jr., 101 of rural Chattanooga, were scheduled for 11 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2018 at Peace Congregational Church with Dr. Johnnie Curtsinger officiating. Burial was in the Chattanooga Cemetery under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home of Frederick. Mr. Fischer passed away on Saturday evening, Oct. 20, 2018 in a Lawton hospital.

Daniel Fischer, Jr. was born on July 9, 1917 northwest of Chattanooga to Daniel and Eva Katherine Bierig. He attended school at Hiawatha which was one- and one-half mile from the family farm. He was a lifelong farmer and was also a carpenter who built the house that he and Wilma still live in today. He was united in marriage to Wilma Jean Robison on Aug. 18, 1951 in Hobart. Dan was a life long member of Peace Congregational Church.

He is survived by his wife, Wilma Fischer of the home; one son, Jimmy Fischer and his wife Benita of Chattanooga; one daughter, Debra Jackson and her husband Tony of Frederick; two brothers-in-law, Galen Robison and Dearld Hill; grandchildren, Susan Baker and her husband Jarod, Cindy Cochran and her husband Brad, Brian Fischer and his wife Tiffany and Jenny Rosenfelt and her husband Andy; great-grandchildren, Kaylee Baker and her fiancé Ben Smith, Jacob and Zada Baker, Lane Cochran and Kalyssa Cochran, Aubrey Rosenfelt and her sibling on the way; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Jacob, Joe, Casper, Jake and David Fischer; four sisters, Martha Fischer, Hanna Stoll, Mary Beisel and Eva Stoll.

Visitation was scheduled from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m., on Monday evening, Oct. 22, 2018 at the funeral home.
