Bombers succumb to Purcell in second half

Body
Frederick Bombers were at Bomber Bowl last Friday playing host to the Purcell Dragons. Purcell rolled in with ideas of avenging last year’s 43-0 shellacking by the Bombers in their own back yard. The half time score was the Dragons by a 7-0 tally. Ground attack was practically nonexistent for Frederick in the opening half. Bombers took to the air and accumulated 56-yards passing with Zack Tyler going 4 of 6. Transversely Purcell had 27-yards in the air with 3 of 7 completions in half number one. The Dragons controlled things on the ground in each half. They totaled 233-yards rushing (unoffi cially) on the night. Bombers logged 79 yards in the second half with 79 yards on 10 carries (unofficially). Frederick did not have an answer for the tailback and quarterback visiting team tandem. Dives and keepers respectively proved a monumental task for the Frederick defense. Dragons held the upper hand at the line of scrimmage. Purcell added two touchdowns in the 3rd quarter and another in the final frame. Dragons reversed the whip from last year’s game by returning the favor of a goose egg. Final score was 27-0 Purcell.

Bombers topple Little Axe

Body
The Bombers took a road trip to Norman to play the Indians of Little Axe. Despite four and a half seasons of winless football, the Indians put up a valiant effort. With Frederick rebounding from the marked defeat to Washington the week before, neither team could get much continuity on either side of the ball.

Bombers shot down early

Body
Friday night lights has taken a bump up to Thursdays on many weeks this season. Why is that? The shortage of game officials has forced a split in game days so officials can do double duty on back-to-back nights. No doubt rendering them weary and tired out, which is not a recipe for retainage of referees that are available.
