The Frederick School Board approved an amendment to the construction management contract with Fenix Constructors.

The amendment dealt only with the re-bid of the boiler building at the Middle School.

The dollar figure of the re-bids for the work to be done totaled $256,593.00.

This included $22,526.00 for “General Conditions” which is the overhead costs at the site during the work.

It was hoped that by asking for new bids on this part of the bond project local contractors would be able to become a part of the project however that was not the case.

One bid item that was thought would attract a local contractor was the concrete work. Not only did it not attract a local, it did not attract anyone and Fenix had to assume the work.

Board member James Heap asked if the new figure was close to what was originally budgeted.

The original budget was $50,000.00, but that was for the new boiler building only. It was later determined that it would be cheaper to buy a new boiler than repair the old one and that led to the current dollar figure.

The three board members present, Vinson Orr and Pat Stacey were unable to attend, passed the amendment unanimously.
