Two Tillman County men are facing felony charges of Knowingly Concealing and Withholding Stolen Property after their arrest for stealing hay from a local farmer.  Sheriff Bobby Whittington states that the farmer suspected he was missing some round bales from a field northwest of Grandfield. A GPS tracking device was placed in one of the bales left in the field and when the alleged thieves drove off with the bale, it sent a text message to Sheriff Whittington’s cellphone stating that the bale was moving. This notification allowed Sheriff Whittington to track the suspect vehicle and make the arrests.

“This is brand new technology for the Tillman County Sheriff Department,” said Sheriff Whittington. “This will make thieves think twice before trying to steal our hard working citizens property!” Sheriff Whittington encourages any farmer that suspects they have hay missing to contact him and make a report on it. “We will gladly put a tracking device in the hay and hopefully catch the people involved”.

Brandon Baker and Troy Baker have been charged with Concealing Stolen Property and are currently free on bail.
