The Frederick Public Library is gearing up for a ton of fun in June with the return of the Summer Reading Program! This year we will have four programs, and the theme is “Dream Big: READ!”
The programs will be held Wednesdays in June beginning June 6th from 2:00 – 3:00 PM. All programs except for the one on June 13th will be held at the Library. The Library is located at 200 E. Grand, on the corner of 11th and Grand.
On Wednesday, June 6, we will kick off our program with the return of Mad Science! They were a big hit at the Summer Reading Program in 2010 and have also presented “The Case for Santa Claus” at the public schools. Kids of all ages love their presentations!
On Wednesday, June 13, we will once again have the team from the Oklahoma City Zoo for their presentation “WHOOOO’s Out There?” Whether it’s their amazing eyesight or their ability to fly silently through the night, owls are a real hoot! (This program will be held at the Gray-Gish Event Center beginning at 2:00 pm.)
On Wednesday, June 20, we will have Sue Hokanson from Quartz Mountain to present a program on nocturnal animals, including bats, mice, skunks and raccoons, as well as fireflies, scorpions and tarantulas!
Finally, on Wednesday, June 27, we will welcome back a fun-filled presentation by The Magic Dad!
Children ages 5-11 and/or grades K-5 are invited to enjoy the Library by attending these great presentations and by READING ALL SUMMER! The Library has lots of books about nighttime, nocturnal animals, magic – in fact, books of all kinds will help anyone DREAM BIG! – and just about everything else for kids of all ages. All programs are open to the public and free of charge. Children younger than five must be accompanied by an adult.
