Homecoming Weekend!

This weekend is Homecoming for the Frederick Bombers, be sure to come downtown to enjoy the

Homecoming Parade at 1:30pm, it will start on West Grand and head east down Grand, then turn onto 15th to head to the Bomber Hangar for the Pep Rally. Then enjoy the homecoming court and game at the Bomber Bowl at 7pm!

It’s Arts N Action Time!!

It’s finally here, annual arts festival will be on Saturday Sept 15th at the Tillman County Courthouse Square, and will run from 10am and continue until 4 pm.Artists will offer handcrafted original items such as Jenny Perry’s Mosaics; Ronald Kuykendall, Pottery, glass jewelry; Beverly Summerford, Pottery & Photography; Carolyn Mystrick, Watercolors; Jim Shelley, fused glass; Mark Fuller, pottery; Larry Greer’s watercolors; Tiffany Spraggins crafts and wood crosses; Jennifer Spears bows and bottletop necklaces; Allie Stroud, bows, and jewelry; Joy Kinder, furniture; Stacey Espinosa, jewelry; Kimberly Abbott, hand painted items; Yusuf Etudaiye, pottery; James Adams, wood benches and chests; and Goat Milk Soap from Barbara Adams and Two Peacocks Soaps. There will be many others as well! The Festival also will offer various food vendors. Food items offered will include: Frito Pies, Hot Dogs, Hamburgers, Taco Salads, Homemade Ice Cream, Cinnamon Rolls and Homemade Desserts. The Arts Council also has a great entertainment line-up for the Festival, featuring some of the best local entertainment around. The Frederick Chamber will be offering several different types of t-shirts at a special price of $5, those include Abernathy Boy, Hackberry Flat, and Oyster Fry shirts. Limited sizes only. There will be plenty to see at the Pioneer Townsite Museum, which is located just west of the Art Show, and will be open from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. The Tillman County Historical Society will be hosting a special book signing by local author Richard McCullough. Mr. McCullough’s new book “Peaceful Valley” is a comprehensive history of the Tipton Valley area of Tillman County. Speaking of books, the Friends of the Frederick Library will have their annual book sale at the Grey Gish Event Center at 126 N Main Street. The Book Sale will be from 9am until 3pm, and includes paperbacks, hardbacks, and fiction and non-fiction books on all subjects and from many genres. All proceeds go to benefit the Frederick Public Library. In addition the Pioneer Townsite Museum offers multiple exhibits, buildings, and artifacts to portray life in rural Southwest Oklahoma in the 1920’s. Be sure to visit the interactive Abernathy Boys exhibit, complete with a 1910 Brush Automobile!

Admission is free to the Townsite. Admission is also free to the nearby Crawford Collection, and will be open from 10am- 2pm. The Crawford Collection in downtown Frederick is a private collection of more than 160 animal trophies mounts that were collected from throughout the world by Frederick’s Crawford family.

The WWII Airborne Demonstration Team will be conducting a training weekend that weekend as well, and visitors to Frederick are welcome to come out to the Frederick Airport to visit the historical hangar and see the Team’s operations.
