Frederick City Council meets in regular session

The Frederick City Council met in a regular session 5:30 p.m. Feb. 28 at the Memorial Civic Center, 110 S. 17th St. in Frederick.

The meeting was called to order and the Pledge of Allegiance followed.

All council members and staff were present.

Officials present were Mayor Eddie Whitworth and councilmen Jim Smith, Chris Cole, Robert Meador and Kevin Ouellette.

Staff present were City Manager Robert Johnston, City Treasurer Fabian Reyes, City Clerk Lupe Arumugam and City Attorney Pat Kent.

The council unanimously voted to approve the minutes of the Feb. 14 regular meeting as well as the following claims:

* General fund, airport and capital improvement fund income and expense reports for January 2017,

* Treasurer’s reports for January 2017, and

* Draft minutes of the Feb. 16 regular airport advisory commission meeting.

The council unanimously voted to amend Ordinance 677, the Frederick City Code regarding alcoholic beverages by deleting section 3-114.

Johnston said that the section that will be deleted is a duplicate of another section that was left in the ordinance by accident.

The council unanimously approved an emergency provision for ordinance No. 677.

The council also unanimously approved the appointment of Amy Reid to the library board, pending her acceptance of the appointment. Reid would replace Carol Bagwell who is stepping down from her position.

The council approved payment request No. 2 submitted by Southwest Construction and Steel LLC for Phase One roof work on the industrial building leased to Henniges.

The bridge replacement work was scheduled to begin March 6.

The council unanimously voted to adjourn the meeting and move into the agenda for the regular session for Frederick Public Works Authority.

Officials present were Chairman Eddie Whitworth and Trustees Jim Smith, Chris Cole, Robert Meador and Kevin Ouellette.

Staff present were General Manager Robert Johnston, Finance Director Fabian Reyes, Secretary Lupe Arumugam and City Attorney Pat Kent.

The board unanimously approved:

* Minutes of the Feb. 14 regular meeting,

* Frederick Public Works Authority income and expense report for January 2017, and

* Treasurer’s reports for January 2017.

Citywide cleanup week is scheduled for April 2 -May 6.

The board unanimously voted to adjourn the meeting.
