Hackberry Flat has scheduled a Winter Wonders event beginning 9 a.m. Dec. 17 at the Hackberry Flat Center. To get there, leave Frederick going South for one mile on U.S. 183, then turn East on Airport Road and drive three miles. Follow the blacktop road South, and drive for six miles.
Candy cane scavenger hunts begin at 9 a.m., 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. The center closes at 1 p.m.
The scavenger hunt includes a short trek into the wetland below the center and a guided tour in an open-air trailer. Please dress warmly for the walking tour and the trailer ride. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
After each scavenger hunt, visitors are slated to decorate nature-themed ornaments. Refreshments also will be provided.
